E.Cordata gives wonderful red prints in the ‘dirty pot’ but how do you identify the windfall leaves when they are mixed with other varieties?
I have a lot of different varieties of eucalyptus in my garden and therefore the leaves can easily get mixed up. A great tip, shared to me by my wonderful Australian relative Michael who sadly and very unexpectedly died just a few short months after his visit to Ireland last year, was that a sure-fire way to identify E.cordata is they have no petiole, AKA stem. It really has been a game changer for me! I miss you Micheal but think of you every time I’m working with cordata!
