18 Apr Eco printing on silk and cotton
Marion at Beautiful Silks truly supplies beautiful and ethically sourced materials for textile artists, novice and experienced alike.
This particular one is an organza silk mesh with cotton bobbles and was part of my purchase from Marion at Geelong Textile and Fibre Forum last time I taught there. I feel that this ultra lightweight organza absorbs natural colour beautifully. Because I use my pot as mordant, rather than the traditional powered metal salts that most eco printers do, the cotton dots stay a light colour. This leads to a subtle yet sophisticated result and these scarves appear almost alive once printed.
