20 Aug Eco printed yarn
Can you eco print yarn in the dirty pot? Heck yeah!!! ????
For this skein of sustainably produced Irish wool, I used windfall eucalyptus leaves and bark (from different varieties) and rolled the bundle on a rusty metal pipe. It was processed as usual by submersion in the pot liquid and boiled for about 3 hours. One of the most common questions that I’m asked about this is won’t the fibre (or fabric) shrink? Wool usually only shrinks when there is a combination of heat AND agitation so providing that your bundle is tied tightly, there is no need to worry!
If you’re new to this process and interested in printing withough traditional powdered mordants, why not check out one of my printing bootcamps on YouTube?
