Eco printed silk gown reveal!

Eco printing is an amazing and transformative process and a brilliant way to up-cycle pre-loved clothing. Earlier this summer I found a beautiful silk gown with lace, beads and sequins in a charity shop so snapped it up before anyone else was tempted. I couldn’t believe that it actually fitted me when I tried it on at home, that was the icing on the cake! I wanted to document myself eco printing it in the ‘dirty pot’ as bonus content for current club/workshop participants but I wanted to share the result here for people sceptical about working with delicate fabric and trims. Usually I use onion skins and aim for an abstract design when printing pieces with a lot of trim and this was no exception. The dress had no problem surviving one hour and fifty five minutes boiling in the ‘dirty pot’, something that often surprises people new to working without traditional powdered mordants.
